Run For Her
Motivated by her mother's battle with cancer, Kelli Sargent created a marketing and operations plan for an ovarian cancer 5k run/walk. She partnered with Cedars-Sinai to create Run For Her and in 2005 the inaugural event took place in the Cedars-Sinai parking lot with 700 people. Since then, Run For Her has expanded from its roots in Los Angeles and become one of the largest ovarian cancer run/walk events in the world. Run For Her has raised over $6 million for the Cedars-Sinai Women's Cancer Program
Ovarian Cancer is the deadliest of all women's cancers. There is no clinical screening for ovarian cancer. The majority of women diagnosed with the disease oly live up to five years after their diagnosis. But if the cancer were detected early and treated, some of these women could have the chance to live a long, healthy life. More than 230,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer worldwide each year, and approximately 140,000 of those women will die from the disease.
The Auror Brigade has had a Run For Her team every year since 2009.
The 2014 Run For Her Event
